Glenda’s Story

 

 

Glenda applied for assistance with our office after receiving a referral from the domestic violence shelter. She needed assistance in removing her abusive, ex-husband from her home. She and her ex-husband had been divorced for several years but after his desperate appeal that she, briefly, provide him with a place to stay, he refused to leave. He provided no form of rent but rather consumed her things, damaged her property and eventually installed surveillance cameras throughout her home. After receiving a threat of violence and being afraid to return to her home, she contacted our office for help. One of our staff attorneys provided an immediate appointment and began the process of ejecting her abusive, former husband. Glenda is now able to reoccupy her home without fear for her safety and the presence of her abusive, ex-husband.
